Course content:
The Cambridge Technical in Sport and Physical Activity is a Level 3 course that is equivalent to one A Level. The course covers a range of topics from sport and physical activity that would benefit students who wish to pursue a career in the sports industry or progress on to further study at university. The course consists of three mandatory units which include:
Unit 1 – Body Systems and Effects of Physical Activity – 90 hours, Exam
Unit 2 – Sports Coaching and Activity Leadership – 90 hours, Centre assessed task
Unit 3 – Sports Organisation and Development – 60 hours, Exam
At the discretion of the centre, a further two units are chosen from a range of options including Sport and Exercise Psychology and Sports Injuries and Rehabilitation.
Progression in careers via:
This course supports progression into a range of sports careers such as coaching, sports development, physiotherapy, PE teacher, fitness instructor and further study at university. Students will develop their sporting knowledge as well as knowledge of applied anatomy and physiology. The range of assessment methods used enable students to gain valuable skills such as meeting deadlines, producing presentations and reports and developing leadership skills.
