Sixth Form Message
17th December 2021
Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope that you and your families are safe and well.
As we have come to the end of our first term, I just wanted to inform you of some minor changes we are making for Sixth Form which will come into effect as of Wednesday 5th January.
Firstly, we have a made a slight change to the dress code. Students will be permitted to wear a discrete nose piercing. However, if a piercing is to be worn, it must be a discrete stud, rings/hoops are not allowed.
Secondly, students will no longer have to attend the period 2 tutor session every day. Students will now be allocated a meeting day, date and time for a one-to-one meeting with their tutor. This is an important element of the pastoral support given to Sixth Form students so it is crucial they attend that meeting. Tutors have looked at timetables with students and where possible, the meetings will take place on days where students are in College for morning lessons.
We have also made some additions to the rewards system and will be increasing both the regularity and number of rewards given to students for their hard work, positive attitudes to learning, attendance, participation in extra-curricular activities and contribution to the Sixth Form and main school communities.
I would like to thank all Sixth Form students, particularly the Student Council for their continued feedback and suggestions for improvements we can make to our Sixth Form.
I wish you all a very safe ‘Merry Christmas and Happy New Year’ and we look forward to welcoming the students back on Wednesday 5th January.
Yours faithfully,
Aidan McCarthy
Director of Sixth Form
