Newcastle University Economics Department Visit

St Bede’s Maths department were delighted to have 5, first year students from Newcastle University’s Economics Department visit our school.

The event was a collaboration between the university, Discover Economics and the Royal Economic Society. The sessions took place across an entire day and reached over 100, Year 10 and 12 students to not only tell them about Economics at university and future careers, but also to deliver activities that challenged their understanding and perceptions of the subject. Students were also on hand in our 6th form study room to talk to our Years 12 and 13 about university life, living in Newcastle, their first year away from home – for one in a new country. They also discussed personal financial management, their future plans and support from the university and the university career’s service. Many thanks to Tantenda, Radhika, Abi, Henry and Emily for their fantastic insights.

We would also like to thank the students’ supervisor Dr Roxana Radulescu and Sam McLoughlin, Campaign Manager – Discover Economics, for helping to realise this opportunity for our students.
