Royal Institution Engineering Workshops

We were lucky enough to be given the opportunity to send four of our Year 9 pupils to Saturday morning sessions held at Beamish Museum. These allowed out pupils working with industry professionals, looking further into the world of engineering and all in the beautiful local seating of Beamish Museum.

Week one saw the girls working with pupils from other schools to make a decreasing speed cog system to lift a weight. After a lot of trial and error and many technical drawings, intricate systems, the teams presented their results to great success.

The sessions cumulated in working with students from Edinburgh University who are part of HYPED. The students were lucky enough to look into the future with the Hyperloop system which could completely revolutionise transport celebrate the completion of the sessions.
