St Bede’s students achieve top grades in new English and Maths GCSEs!

Following last week’s stunning A level results, St Bede’s students are celebrating again, with 75% of students achieving the new combined English and Maths score.

Headteacher Neville Harrison, said: “We are delighted with our results both at A level and GCSE. Students have performed superbly and I congratulate them for working so diligently throughout their two years of study to achieve their very best. This year has seen significant changes to the English and Maths exam systems and grading criteria. Content is more challenging and students perform final exams in these subjects at the end of year 11. As this is the first year through this new system, there has been very little support material available from exam boards. This was indeed a challenge for staff and students but a challenge they met with real determination and commitment: the fruits of their labours are evident in these fantastic results."

He added: "Many of our students celebrating today, will join our outstanding Sixth Form College, where they will be supported by excellent teachers who will ensure that they continue to flourish and excel in their studies. I’d like to thank all subject teachers for their care, dedication and support shown to all our students.”
