(Updated: 3:00pm, Tuesday 21st May 2013)

Flood Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

All Year 10 students return to school tomorrow with Year 13 and Years 11 and 12 exam students.  We will keep Years 7, 8 and 9 parents updated with progress each day.

Following a meeting with loss adjusters and our insurance company, work has already started to return the school to full capacity.

cleanup

The recent flooding has been acknowledged as a major incident and I take this opportunity to thank parents and carers for your patience and support, as we work hard to make more areas and classrooms available for students.

However, even when all the students have returned, we will not have access to 13 classrooms until September 2013. This is an indication of how destructive this flooding was to our community.

Once again, I can only apologise for any inconvenience and for circumsatnces completely out of our control.

Very best wishes.

School Flooded

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following the horrendous flash floods in Lanchester on Saturday, I have been forced to close the school for all but Year 13 lessons and Years 11 and 12 students who are sitting exams. We will keep you updated each day via the website but unfortunately I do not see the situation changing until Wednesday/Thursday at the earliest - this will depend on how quickly we can get the school up and running to its full capacity again.

Ground Floor Sixth Form Block

The floods have caused more damage than earlier floods - the areas affected: Sixth Form study and the whole ground floor of the Sixth Form, including some classrooms (The Hub is not affected); Food Tech (MB's room); Language block; corridor to staff room, girls' gym; girls' toilets. The playground area is a sea of silt and gravel and will probably need a JCB to restore.

Hopefully we can get the rest of the students in before the end of the week.

Work on our flood defences will begin on 1st July so hopefully these depressing images will soon be a thing of the past.
Very best wishes and sincere apologies.
